PHINMA St. Jude College partners with PHINMA Microtel Hotels
PHINMA Saint Jude College recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with PHINMA Microtel Hotels.
“We are thankful that industry sees its important role towards contributing to quality education. By working with them, we hope to equip our Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) students with the skills that industry needs, and make them employable” shared Dr. Raymundo P. Reyes, PHINMA Saint Jude College president.
PHINMA Microtel Hotels will help PHINMA Saint Jude College with respect to developing a relevant curriculum, instructional support, and apprenticeships, among others.
It has provided initial inputs towards improving the HRM curriculum of St. Jude College. Plans are afoot as well to building a mock Microtel room in the school for more hands on training.
“We see that tourism will continue to be a key sector in the Philippine economy. Apart from providing us with a pipeline of future workers in the hotel and hospitality industry, we see this partnership as a way for our HRM subject matter experts to share industry best practices with the academe, particularly with the six schools in the PHINMA Education network”, said Dean Cid, Chief Operating Officer of PHINMA Microtel Hotels Inc.
“Beyond the usual mandatory on-the-job training, we want to encourage experiential learning among our students. With the help of our industry partners, we hope to do more exposure trips, more skills Olympics and lecture series. This way, learning is not confined to theory. This benefits our teachers too, in the process,” added Reyes.
